Why the Painted Lady? |
There are a many advantages to using the Painted Lady for your Butterfly Release. While the Monarch is also a beautiful butterfly, the Painted Lady will linger after releases while the Monarch will quickly flee the scene. Housing butterflies |
| The basic needs for a butterfly include food, water, proper temperature, an enclosure that allows for movement, and proper lighting. The right enclosure for butterflies depends on the room that you are keeping them in and the purpose for keeping butterflies. Many butterflies have complex system of host plants and food supplies that are required for the various stages of life. In order to successfully house them, you will need to duplicate, as much as possible, the conditions in the wild. Other types of butterflies are easier to house and can live on specially prepared food. Whatever the requirements are, your study of their needs and the needs of the caterpillars will help you to provide all of the physical elements necessary for their survival.MORE |

American Indian Legend |
| According to an American Indian Legend - If anyone desires a wish to come true they must first capture a butterfly and whisper that wish to it. Since a butterfly can make no sound, the butterfly can not reveal the wish to anyone but the Great Spirit who hears and sees all. In gratitude for giving the beautiful butterfly its freedom, the Great Spirit always grants the wish. So, according to legend, by making a wish and giving the butterfly its freedom, the wish will be taken to the heavens and be granted. |
